Our position moving forward regarding the House Speakership will be guided by two main imperatives:
- The Liberal Party will endeavor to vote as one. This is the guidance from our party leadership and we will apply tactical resolve so that we may achieve greater objectives. In this light, we have been engaging all individuals who have expressed their desire to seek the Speakership position.
- We continue to be guided by our core values. Thus, regardless of our position on the House Speakership, we will be voting according to these values on key issues — including the death penalty, the criminalization of minors, and other issues that are integral to upholding the rights and freedoms of our citizens.
Rest assured that the Liberal Party will remain steadfast to its principles regardless of who wields the Speaker’s gavel. We will continue to push for genuine democracy in the House: One that recognizes and encourages different opinions; that does not punish dissent; and that allows for a true people’s minority. This will hold true even as we deal with the specific context and landscape of the House of Representatives. Maninindigan pa rin tayo.
Ang posisyon namin hinggil sa House Speakership ay ginagabayan ng dalawang pangunahing batayan:
- Sisikapin ng Partido Liberal na bumoto bilang isa. Ito ang patnubay mula sa pamumuno ng aming partido at maglalapat kami ng mga taktika upang makamit namin ang mga mas mahahalagang layunin. Dahil dito, nakikipag-ugnayan kami sa lahat ng mga indibidwal na nagpahayag na gusto maging Speaker.
- Patuloy kaming ginabayan ng aming mga prinsipyo. Gayunpaman, anuman ang aming posisyon sa House Speakership, boboto kami nang ayon sa mga prinsipyong ito sa mga importanteng isyu — kabilang ang death penalty, ang kriminalisasyon ng kabataan, at iba pang mga importanteng isyung kailangang tayuan para itaguyod ang mga karapatan at kalayaan ng ating mga mamamayan.
